The court in Yerevan granted the petition of the lawyer of former Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan's brother Henrikh (Djonik) Abrahamyan and released him on bail in the amount of 5 million drams. The press secretary of the Special Investigation Office of Armenia Marina Ohandzhanyan told ArmInfo correspondent.
To recall the brother of the former Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan, Henrikh Abrahamyan was charged on the grounds of Part 2, Art. 235 ( Illegal acquisition, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices). According to the accusation, Henrikh Abrahamyan illegally acquired weapons, which he kept in the former mechanic-repair plant in the village of Mkhchyan, registered in the name of Hambik Gevorgyan, but in fact owned by his brother Hovik Abrahamyan. Including 3 light machine guns, 7 machine guns, 2 SVD, 3 guns, 2 pistols and a lot of ammunition that were found during a search on 6 August.
To note the day before, the Head of the National Security Service of Armenia, at the request of journalists, commenting on the case, said: "We received information that there is a large amount of weapons in the territory belonging to the Abrahamyan family, which may be related to the March 1-2, 2008 case. An examination was carried out and it was announced that the weapons found were not related to the events of March 1-2. I think it is important that an objective investigation was carried out, and we are not trying to influence the body conducting the investigation in order to get the desired results. Investigations are carried out clearly and objectively in all cases ", Vanetsyan said. Earlier, on October 13, the Head of the Special Investigation Service Sasun Khachatryan stated that at this stage the criminal case on the fact of the discovered weapon has no connection with the case on the investigation of the events of March 1.
