ArmInfo.Armenian President Armen Sargsyan met in New York on October 4 with the chairman of the Munich International Security Conference, Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger.
According to the presidential press service, Sarkissian and Ischinger stressed the importance of holding thorough discussions on security issues and the need to find solutions based on global dialogue, including regional issues. Ambassador Ischinger invited President Sargsyan to speak at the Munich International Conference.
In turn, President Sarkissian noted that, from year to year, the Munich Security Conference is becoming more representative and influential, and the issues under discussion reflect current problems in the field of international security.
Note that the Munich International Conference on Security is an authoritative platform that brings together more than 70 states, politicians, public figures and diplomats from around the world who discuss international security issues, in particular, current and future security issues.
On the same day, the President met with the American diplomat Richard Haass, who since 2003 has served as chairman of the Council on Foreign Relations.
President Sargsyan and Richard Haass exchanged views on international politics, security issues, problems and challenges in the South Caucasus, touched upon the prospects of Armenian-American cooperation.
