ArmInfo. Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, in New York on the margins of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, met with US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Wess Mitchell.
The press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry told ArmInfo that Mnatsakanyan spoke about the internal political processes in Armenia, the priorities of the government, in particular, in the areas of fighting corruption and protecting human rights.
The parties expressed readiness to intensify the political dialogue. The interlocutors also exchanged views on trade and economic cooperation and the development agenda of Armenia, especially in terms of deepening mutually beneficial cooperation in scientific, educational and innovation spheres, considered to be the engines of development. In this regard, the importance of the work of the Armenian-American intergovernmental commission was emphasized.
Interlocutors discussed relevant regional and international issues, in particular the protection of ethnic and regional minorities of the Middle East, as well as the international fight against terrorism, touched upon efforts for a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.
