ArmInfo. The fatal incident, which occurred the day before in the Armenian Armed Forces, was the result of an accident, and not hazing. Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan stated this in a conversation with journalists, adding that the materials of the preliminary investigation testify to this. At the same time, he stressed that the leadership of the Defense Ministry is doing everything possible to minimize such cases.
To note yesterday, serviceman Zhora Petrosyan, died in one of the military units of the Armed Forces. According to preliminary data, he was killed as a result of a violation of the norms of the use of weapons by another soldier.
However, another fatal incident, which occurred a month ago in Karvachar, according to the minister, was the result of hazing. As Tonoyan noted, a serviceman under the influence shot another soldier. At the same time, the minister stressed that the use of alcohol in the army should be strictly prohibited. "We are working in this direction" - said Tonoyan, stressing that all the perpetrators of such incidents are punished to the fullest extent of the law. "Officers and commanders are removed from their posts, in addition to bringing the perpetrators of the incidents to responsibility. We conduct a lot of activites aimed at eradication of crimes, including corrupt ones," Tonoyan summed up.
