ArmInfo. For Armenia it was a great honor to preside in the BSEC for the fifth time. On June 27, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Karen Nazaryan stated in Yerevan on the results of the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC).
From January 1, 2018, Armenia will coordinate the information technology sphere of the Organization for a period of two years. And in this context, he hastened to note that the development of the IT sphere among the priorities of the new government of Armenia, and the Armenian side attaches importance to the maximum deepening of interaction in this sphere on international platforms, including the BSEC. "In May of this year, the Armenian project was approved with respect to the development of the IT sphere in small and medium-sized enterprises." On the margins of the 38th meeting of the Organization, we summed up the results of Armenia's chairmanship in the organization and the work done," Nazaryan said. And in this context, he stressed that Armenia attaches importance to BSEC activities and will continue to be actively involved in the work of the Organization, paying exclusive attention to the economic component. "We fined unacceptable some attempts to politicize the work of the Organization through the adoption of policies that are contrary to the statute and the BSEC principles. By the way, in recent years, it happens in PA BSEC fields, where politicized documents and declarations are adopted." Nazaryan said, noting that the issue was discussed with the delegations of the participating countries.
In conclusion, he expressed conviction that the meeting in Yerevan would contribute to deepening regional economic cooperation, which is based on the BSEC policy and objectives, as well as the need to use the full potential for the development of the countries of the region.
BSEC Secretary General Michael Christides noted that the meeting in Yerevan is a good opportunity to sum up the achievements that the organization has since its foundation. "This is an important and symbolic meeting. It is symbolic, since June this year marked 20 years of founding of our organization and the 20th year of our Charter. This meeting is important from the point of view of the intensification of work as chairman of the Organization I am glad to note that all 12 members were represented at today's meeting, at which a number of important decisions and documents regarding our interaction were adopted," concluded the BSEC Secretary General.
