ArmInfo. The official visit of French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian to Armenia became the first foreign visit to Yerevan after political changes in the country. On May 28 at the briefing with the French Minister of European and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Yves Le Drian stated in Yerevan, Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan.
According to him, the visit is also symbolic, since it takes place on the days of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the First Republic. "Today we can say that the special relations between Armenia and France are based on friendship and mutual support of the peoples of the two countries. At the same time, he noted that during the meeting with his French counterpart, preparations for the visit of the French president to Armenia in autumn of this year were discussed, bilateral trade and economic relations were touched upon. "Despite the results in this area, we can say with confidence that there is a greater potential for interaction, and so far the level of interaction is inferior to the level of existing political relations. They exchanged views on efforts to give a new impetus to trade and economic relations. French companies have made significant investments in the Armenian economy, and we are ready to create the most favorable conditions for new investors ", - assured the head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, adding that this issue is receiving attention. According to him, both sides are interested in obtaining more tangible results in trade, economic and investment cooperation.
The minister said that today an agreement on the establishment and activities in Armenia has been signed between the French Development Agency and the financial partnership company (Proparco).
At the same time, the Armenian Minister stressed that the opening of the Armenian center of memory and culture in Paris, as well as the establishment in Armenia of the center for them. Charles Aznavour mutually supplements relations between countries. According to him, intensive interaction takes place in the educational sphere, in the field of agriculture, culture, health, tourism.
