ArmInfo. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Judith Margrethe Farnworth. The interlocutors touched upon the developments in Armenia, the process of forming the government and a number of issues related to the Armenian-British relations, the RA government's press office reported.
According to the source, during the meeting Nikol Pashinyan stressed the importance of interaction between Armenia and the United Kingdom in the political, economic and other fields. The head of the government stressed that the new authorities of the RA are interested in British investments and raising of capital and added that the new program of the government will clearly define the ways of development of Armenia and the vision of this development. According to the Prime Minister, the leadership's steps will be aimed at continuous improvement of business footprints, including, to improve the security of investments. Simultaneously, Nikol Pashinyan pointed out the importance of diversification of investments in Armenia, and, in particular, of British investments. "We are determined to implement our goals, programs and activities, and the government will be accountable to the public, taking every step," the prime minister said.
Ambassador Farnworth congratulated Nikol Pashinyan on his election to the post of prime minister and noted that the British government is ready to take concrete steps towards developing relations with Armenia. The Ambassador expressed her country's support for the reform program of the Armenian government, including those related to improving the management system, the business environment, strengthening democracy, modernizing the judicial and legal system and other areas. Ms. Farnworth also stressed the importance of strengthening economic ties and added that a visit of British businessmen to Armenia is planned, during which they will get acquainted with the investment climate in our country and will discuss with the Armenian colleagues the possibilities of investment.
During the meeting, issues related to the increase of trade turnover between the two countries, the geopolitical situation created in the region, the holding of parliamentary elections in Armenia, the reform of the Electoral Code, as well as a number of issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
