ArmInfo. In the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), it is necessary to clarify mutual obligations, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said in an interview with Rossiya 24.
According to the Prime Minister of Armenia, today he has issues related to the role and obligations of the contracting countries in specific situations. "When I was in the opposition, as a deputy, neither the government nor the authorities heard any specific answers to these questions, I think it would be useful to clarify the answers and mutual commitments - to Armenia in front of partners and vice versa, in specific cases all the peoples of the CSTO member states it is important to clarify what this means in practice, "he said.
According to Nikol Pashinyan, these aspects of Armenia's military cooperation should be discussed with partners. "I am confident that this will be a very useful discussion, in the vein of a constructive dialogue, not with the aim of breaking relations." As already said, Armenia is and will be a member of the Collective Security Treaty, "he said.
Commenting on the possibility of participation of CSTO forces, including Armenia, in missions in the Middle East, if "as the situation develops, there will be a need for CSTO participation, international forces, terrorists who do atrocities in Syria will take the road towards Central Asia and the borders of countries organization, "Pashinyan said:" In confirmed that we have something to discuss - we must have a concrete plan for cooperation on what the role of countries will be. " Referring to US sanctions against the products of the Russian military-industrial complex and their impact on military-technical cooperation between Yerevan and Moscow, the Armenian prime minister said he does not think that someone will try to exert pressure on the RA. "We are closely connected and it is simply impossible not to cooperate with Russia, it is a matter of Armenia's national interests and security. Who will try to press on us that we act at the expense of our security? We must think about expanding the scope and size of these treaties," - concluded Nikol Pashinyan.
To recall, on May 1, at a special session of the parliament, the candidate for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the new government of Armenia will not resort to harsh actions in foreign policy. He again noted that he considers Russia a strategic partner of Armenia and this approach is not threatened. According to him, in modern history there are dozens of examples that testify to drastic changes in foreign policy, which led to disastrous consequences for individual states. In this context, Pashinyan once again confirmed his position on Armenia's adherence to the membership in the EAEU and the CSTO. "It is necessary to take into account the national and state interests of the country," the candidate for prime ministers said.
