ArmInfo. The situation in Armenia is a unique one. On May 1, opening a special meeting of the National Assembly of Armenia, which discusses the issue of the election of a new prime minister, RA National Assembly Chairman Ara Babloyan said.
According to him, this is an unprecedented case in the history of modern Armenia, in which the majority of the deputy corps does not nominate its candidate for the post of prime minister, while the only nominee is a representative opposition faction. The Speaker recalled peaceful actions, during which no violence was applied, which caused respect from the international community. Ara Babloyan once again stressed that the goal of the ruling Republican Party is to ensure security and to refrain from intransigence. He expressed the hope that during the parliamentary hearings the parties will be restrained in their speeches and statements.
Then the floor was given to Ararat Mirzoyan, MP from the opposition faction "Elk", who nominated the leader of the faction Nikol Pashinyan as prime minister of Armenia.
