ArmInfo. President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian thinks that the situation in Armenia has only way out-constitutional. "There is no other way, and there cannot be, because no one can and should not open Pandora's box when people stop respecting the Constitution," Armenian President Armen Sarkissian said in an interview with Belarusian journalists.
According to the President, the internal and external impact, economic difficulties, social injustice and corruption, and the fact that the young people of Armenia would like to have a clearer idea of their future - all this could lead to the activation of the trigger point that caused the internal political situation in the republic. "This is a complex thing, which for many years, perhaps because of a lack of dialogue between the government and the people, has accumulated and at this point has come out of its emotional limits," he explained.
At the same time, as Sarkissian pointed out, any political process, including elections, can become a focal point, when people's emotions, their dissatisfaction with the ruling regime, get an opportunity for self-expression. "It seems to me that this case concerns our society," the president said. According to him, every citizen has the right to his opinion, "but the structure of statehood, the entire mechanism should work in a coordinated manner."
To date, Armen Sarkissian has refrained from making any predictions as to whether Armenia has a future with such a political figure as Nikol Pashinyan. "I do not want to give assessments to individual political figures - my role is to lead everyone to a consensus." We have a very large spectrum, I meet with many, relatively speaking, from the extreme left to the extreme right. "My role is in talking, discussing with political, public organizations, individuals, try to bring this spectrum to the center, dialogue, the peaceful resolution of all possible issues and conflicts, "he said. As Sargsyan stressed, for Armenia, the stability of the state and the consolidation of society are important now, and the most important factor is the people's interest.
