ArmInfo. Citizens of Armenia who live abroad, of course, also have the right to express their position on the events taking place in the country. Nevertheless, I do not think that the invasion of Armenian diplomatic missions, obstruction of their work, attempts to discredit their homeland can be considered a manifestation of patriotism.
" This was stated in the interview to the newspaper Aravot by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Edward Nalbandyan, answering the question about the attitude of the RA Foreign Minister to organizing rallies in front of the Armenian embassies in several countries of the world.
According to Nalbandian, for the expression of opinion there are civilized methods. The Foreign Minister stressed that international structures and partner countries are well informed about what is happening in Armenia, as, first of all, reforms were implemented in Armenia to strengthen democracy and, secondly, thanks to cooperation with them. What has been done in this direction, especially over the past 10 years, leaves no doubt that the progress recorded in the country in the field of protecting fundamental freedoms is stable and irrevocable. As a result of this cooperation, Edward Nalbandian continued, the constitutional reforms and the parliamentary elections held last year were awarded by international structures, mostly positive assessment. Also, as a result of cooperation, Armenia made a transition to a parliamentary system of government.
As the RA FM noted, rallies and processions taking place in the country could not be imagined without the implementation of consistent reforms in recent years. "Maybe, it is not worthwhile to draw parallels, nevertheless, who are those countries in which tolerance can be observed to impede the free movement of citizens for a long time, attempts to invade educational, state institutions and other structures, disrupt their work, damage public and private property, violation of public order, etc. Obviously, the actions of law enforcement bodies these days were not that proportionate, and in many cases more than restrained, "said Edward Nalbandian.
As for the reaction of the international media, it was rather discussed. And this is natural. The events taking place in Armenia, Immediately and unhindered, they are distributed through local and international news agencies. This is also an important indicator. <Or take the free activity of the Internet and social networks, the existence of an active civil society in Armenia, which has been formed over the past few years. All this became possible due to the consistent policy of Armenia, which was repeatedly awarded high marks by our international partners," RA FM said.
