ArmInfo. The head of the "Yelk" bloc faction, Nikol Pashinyan, accused the candidate for the presidency of Armen Sargsyan in disrespect for the Armenian people from the rostrum of the parliament.
"For a whole month, the question has been discussed whether you were a citizen of Armenia for the past 6 years, as required by the Constitution for nomination to the presidency, your future legitimacy as a president is called into question, and you neglect all of this month did not bother to submit your application to renounce the citizenship of Great Britain, ignoring the public agenda, "Pashinyan said, suggesting that if Sargsyan does not submit this statement, then it simply does not exist.
Further, Pashinyan suggested that Serzh Sargsyan specifically nominated an illegitimate candidate for the post of president, so that the latter depends on his will. "That's why Armen Sargsyan can not even voice his opinion today on the statement of Serzh Sargsyan on the refusal of claims for the post of prime minister against the backdrop of the fact that the RPA is preparing to nominate him for this post," Pashinyan said.
Meanwhile, the head of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" faction Armen Rustamyan, declaring ARFD's support to Sargsyan's candidacy, urged his colleagues not to criticize the future president, especially since he will still be elected in this post. In this regard, he even made parallels between Armen Sargsyan and the Savior, remembering the quotation from the Bible: "Pray to the Most High, for he is your savior." He also called for "not to dig in the papers," meaning not to raise the issue of Sargsyan's citizenship. "In today's conditions, we must do everything possible to return to the homeland any worthy Armenian," Rustamyan assured.
The same statement was made by the Republican, the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee Armen Ashotyan, considering the issue of Sargsyan's citizenship not so relevant: "I do not understand if the question of citizenship is the most urgent, are there really no more important issues that could be asked to the candidate?" This statement only surprised Nikol Pashinyan: "Since when has the observance of constitutional norms been secondary, and for whom is the Constitution written, and what can be more important than observing the Constitution of the country?" Pashinyan asked.
Vahe Enfiajyan, the secretary of the faction of the opposition Tsarukyan bloc, said that the political force represented by him, having consulted with his leader MP Gagik Tsarukyan, decided to support the candidacy of Armen Sargsyan, as his visions on the country's development coincide with the position of the Tsaroukyan bloc.
The head of the faction of the ruling Republican Party Vahram Baghdasaryan at the beginning of his speech turned to Nikol Pashinyan, advising him to gesticulate less and to change his facial expressions: "Believe me, this is better for the audience." There are people who train in the gesture for an hour and a half before the mirror. " Then Baghdasaryan assured that RPA in the person of Armen Sargsyan presented an invulnerable and correct candidate: "I am confident that we will have a worthy president."
In his final speech, Armen Sargsyan stated that he would try to justify the hopes placed on him at the presidential post. "I promise that I'll put all my efforts and potential into the development of Armenia." In addition, he is ready for a dialogue with all stakeholders, including those who criticize me, "the candidate summed up.
