ArmInfo. Armenian lawyers protest against the inclusion in the draft procedural codes of the provision on fines for lawyers to 100,000 AMD for contempt of court. The Ministry of Justice of Armenia and the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs and the Protection of Human Rights insist on introducing this provision. Almost the entire advocacy of the country joined the protest action, the protest is expressed in the fact that the lawyers did not come to work on February 7, they did not appear in the courts or in the investigative bodies. At the same time, an initiative group gathered in the Chamber of Advocates of Armenia to discuss further actions in connection with the current situation and to try to prevent the adoption of such a legislative norm. According to lawyers, there is no need to apply such strict measures against them. Dissatisfied laywers will continue the action tomorrow. This provision was initially decided to be included in the draft of the Judicial Code, but subsequently the authorities rejected this idea, since the latter is a constitutional law, and it will be very difficult to make any further changes therein. The authors of the initiative decided to consolidate this provision in the procedural codes, namely, in the Criminal Procedure, the Civil Procedure and the Code of Administrative Proceedings.
