ArmInfo. On the initiative of the office of the Ombudsman of Armenia, a working group consisting of a doctor, psychologist and lawyer visited the Nubarashen penitentiary to visit the members of the Sasna Tsrer group Araik Khandoyan, Armen Bilyan and Smbat Barseghyan, the latter are still on hunger strike.
Armen Bilyan complained of headaches and dizziness. Despite the fact that Bilyan prescribed medication, he does not take medication because of being on a hunger strike. Bilyan also refused to transfer to the penitentiary "Hospital for Convicts", stating that he wants to be transferred to the "Armavir" penitentiary.
Based on the results of studying the documents of Armen Bilyan and personal conversation with him, the employees of the Ombudsman's office stated that he needed consistent psychological support. In addition, in order to avoid the harmful impact of a long-term hunger strike, he needs constant medical supervision.
During a personal interview with Smbat Barseghyan, the latter reported that he felt a general weakness and a decrease in pressure. Nevertheless, Smbat Barseghyan did not make any claims or demands in connection with health problems, noting that he only insists on transferring from Nubarashen to "Armavir" penitentiary.
As for Araik Khandoyan, he underwent a sonographic examination. It is also planned to examine him by the urologist.
The staff of the Human Rights Defender are in constant contact with the lawyers of Araik Khandoyan, Armen Bilian and Smibat Barseghyan. The latter have been on hunger strike for more than 20 days, demanding transfer from the Nubarashen to Armavir, insisting that inhuman conditions of detention exist in the Nubarashen prison. Araik Khandoyan just ended the hunger strike the other day.
