ArmInfo. The UN issued a statement in connection with the situation in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
"We take note of the statement of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group of June 19, 2017, made following the visit to the region. We share the concern of the co-chairs over the recent violations of the ceasefire on the line of contact that led to the tragic victims. We support the call of the mediators to the parties to avoid further escalation of the situation and to consider measures that would reduce tensions. We also join in the call of the mediators to resume the negotiations on the merits, in good faith and with the political will. The UN is ready to support such efforts if it is necessary," said in a statement distributed by the Deputy Press Secretary of the Secretary General, Farhan Haq, received by ArmInfo.
To remind, that on the eve of the visit of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to Baku on the night of June 17- 18, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces fired on the Karabakh positions from the heavy anti-tank grenade launchers, as a result of which 4 servicemen of the NKR DA were killed and three more seriously injured. Also reported about one dead Azerbaijani serviceman. In addition, on the night of June 21-22, the enemy made an attempt of sabotage penetration, but was timely discovered and thrown back to the starting positions. During the retreat, the enemy lost at least 4 servicemen.
