ArmInfo. Armenian Parliament vice-speaker Edward Sharmazanov and Belarus Ambassador to Armenia Igor Nazaruk during the meeting on May 29 discussed inter-parliamentary contracts, cooperation in different international platforms, as well as the issues related to the political and economical contacts between the two countries.
Sharmazanov noted the importance of consolidated work in international platforms and support to each other, including in OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and OSCE PA. Vice Speaker stressed that Armenian parliamentary delegation at the responsible zone of OSCE stands for exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflicts, particularly, in Nagorno Karabakh settlement issue. In this context, Sharmazanov expressed confidence that parliamentarians of OSCE member countries in this issue should be attached to the official position of the Organization. "If we want to solve the problem, we should understand the reason of it, and the question is that Azerbaijan does not recognize the right of Artsakh people on self-determination. For peaceful settlement of the conflict, we need to provide total implementation of Artsakh people right to self determination", vice speaker said.
According to Sharmazanov's estimates, the deepening of inter-parliamentary relations will allow to extend Armenian-Belarusian economic relations and develop them. According to him, Armenian and Belarusian membership in EEU opens wide opportunities from this point of view.
In his turn, Nazarus assured that parliamentary cooperation will continue to develop dynamically. At the same time, Belarus Ambassador stressed the importance of Karabakh conflict settlement within OSCE Minsk Group.
An agreement was reached to conduct Armenian-Belarussian inter-parliamentary committee this summer in Minsk.
