ArmInfo. The Armenian-Russian arms contracts are implemented in accordance with schedules and without any delays. On May 23, in Yerevan, said the head of the Defense Policy Department of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia Levon Ayvazyan in a press conference touching upon Minsk Group's last statement.
"Arms supplies within the framework of the $ 200 million arms contract and within the framework of the agreement between the defense departments of Armenia and Russia are implemented smoothly and in a timely manner, often even earlier than planned. The question is that the Russian side accepts the order, the products must be produced in the factories and only then the supply process is organized", Ayvazyan said.
He reminded that the Armenian side receives Russian arms and military equipment by Russian domestic prizes, which is a privilege. He did not publish the types of arms that will be provided to Armenia within the agreement between Defense departments of the two states. Ayvazyan also said that several shipments of the Russian arms are already in Armenia.
To recall, according to the Armenian-Russian agreement on granting Armenia the $ 200 million loan, for this amount the Armed Forces of the Republic purchased rocket launchers 9K58 Smerch of the Igla-S missile system, Avtobaz-M passive electronic intelligence system, TOS-1A Solncepyok flamer systems, Tigr", anti-tank missile systems" Contest-M", antitank grenade launchers RPG-26, small arms, engines and sights for tanks T-72 and BMP, communication equipment, engineering equipment, KamAZ. The agreement on granting credit on preferential terms - to repay a loan with a 3% rate Yerevan will start only in 2018 in RUR for 10 years, and an advance payment of only 10% was concluded in 2015. Thus, taking into account the continuing devaluation of the Russian currency, as well as the republic's membership in the CSTO, which allows buying weapons at domestic prices, for $ 200 million, the Armenian republics can acquire an unlimited number of Russian weapons.
