ArmInfo. Weak and vulnerable negotiating positions of official Yerevan make themselves felt not only around the negotiation table, but also on the contact line, where people mostly die as a result of political irresponsibility of our responsible persons. An ex-NKR Foreign Minister, independent analyst Arman Melikyan expressed such an opinion to ArmInfo.
"In this sense, the threat to Armenian interests lies not in the Moscow perversion of the negotiation process, but in the absence of a comprehensive system of negotiating philosophy and civil-law approaches that ensures their protection and progress," he said.
According to Melikyan, Armenia cannot neglect the serious levers of influence on the parties to the conflict in the hands of Russia. In this light, Yerevan should be able to build relations with Moscow, comparing the protection of its own vital interests with steps towards a correct understanding of its regional interests.
The analyst noted with regret the zero rate of the Armenian factor in relations with Russia, having caused this primarily by the fault of the political elite and the current authorities of Armenia.
Considering the given increasingly tightened Soviet-imperial nostalgic moods and manifestations, according to his estimates, it cannot be ruled out that at some point, Armenia and Azerbaijan can offer or impose a new version of the association under the patronage of Moscow.
