ArmInfo.New Law on Ombudsman to come in power in March this year, Arman Tatoyan, the Ombudsman of Armenia stated at the press conference held in Yerevan on February 27.
According to him, the document is a Constitution based Law, which has been developed after the reforms.
"The new Law is particularly valid already and has a goal to expand the institutional aspect of activities.
According to the new Law, the Ombudsman deals with two main issues - private complaints and preventive work, aimed at the system improvements," Tatoyan informed. He added also, that both domestic entities and European organizations participated in the modification process. Moreover, the OSCE has presented a conclusion in respect to the Law mentioned. Armenian Ombudsman stated also that the new Law improves the publicity and the transparency of the Ombudsman Office activities.
He informed also that, according to the new law, independent experts will be also involved in the activities of the Ombudsman's Office, and those services will be paid at the costs of state budget. Besides, a road map for journalists in respect to children's rights protection, protection of disabled persons' rights and military servicemen rights. "Reporters and journalists are very important partners for us, and we consider the further cooperation with them as one of our priorities," Tatoyan summarized.
