ArmInfo. By efforts of the Armenian delegation in CSTO PA the issue of giving Pakistan an observer status was taken off the agenda of the Council's session, which will be held in Saint Petersburg on November 24.
Head of the Armenian delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of CSTO, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov told ArmInfo's correspondent that he had applied with this issue to the Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin presenting the stand of the Armenian side. "I particularly stressed in the letter that the Armenian delegation stands against giving to Pakistan a status of observer in the Parliamentary Assembly of CSTO. To substantiate our stand I brought the fact that Pakistan has not recognized Armenia's independence yet. Besides, Pakistan supports exclusively Azerbaijan's stand in Karabakh settlement, which contradicts to the approaches of the OSCE Minsk Group and CSTO. Islamabad demonstrated this policy by supporting Baku's militaristic actions during the April war in Karabakh conflict zone", Sharmazanov clarified adding that this letter was discussed today and a decision was taken not to include the issue in the agenda of the organization's Council session
