ArmInfo. Russia gets a chance with conservative USA, famous Russian analyst Sergey Markedonov considers.
The final results of the presidential elections in the USA have not been announced yet, however Republican Donald Trump's victory is almost evident, considering that he has already won 276 electoral votes, while Hillary Clinton got only 218. Almost 56.9 mln people have voted for Trump and 55.8 mln for Clinton. The candidate from Democrats has already congratulated Trump by phone. '' Of course, this is quite a slim chance but attempts should be made to use it. I think that today there is a hope if not for establishing ally relations with the USA then at least for bringing relations to a real platform based on pragmatism, good judgment with no extra emotions and hysterics'', he noted.
Noting that long lasting confrontation with the USA is not in Moscow's interest the analyst stressed that it is early yet to make serious political conclusions on Trump's victory. One should wait till practical steps are being taken for implementation of his ''Rusophillia''.
''During the years I have spent in the USA I had an opportunity to see that there is other America, more conservative and focused on itself rather than on ''global demintern''. And all these people: teachers, businessmen, military men did not like the establishment's arrogance, its political correctness and criticism of traditional values. Donald Trump's victory is first and foremost these people's victory'', the analyst summarized.
