ArmInfo. The second cold war between Russia and the West, first of all the USA, started long ago, former head of National Security Service of Armenia, analyst David Shahnazaryan expressed this opinion at the round table held on November 8 in Armenian Institute of International Relations and Security Affairs (AIISA).
"This war is not like the other wars and a lot of people in the West do not want to believe in the fact that this war has already started. I think that the prospects of this war will become visible in the nearest future considering incompatibility of resources, economic, human and political potentials of the sides", he noted.
In this light Shahnazaryan forecasts two scenarios how the cold war will end. According to the first one Russia will inevitably refuse from its imperial, revisionist efforts and intentions. According to the second scenario Russia will face quite serious consequences, considering that the USA has already voiced the issue of imposing petroleum embargo on Russia, which in the expert's words will completely "pull the plug on Russia".
The analyst thinks that at this background Armenia should seriously weigh its situation and possible consequences of the expected events. In this light the expert thinks that it is very important not to allow to make Armenia a weapon in Russia's hands against the West considering that Russia has already made efforts in this issue, while Armenia and the West's interests largely coincide.
