ArmInfo. On November 5, the employees of the Armenian Human Rights Defender's Office visited the "Hospital for Prisoners" penitentiary of the Armenian Justice Ministry to see Hovhannes Harutyunyan, the injured member of the Sasna Tsrer (Daredevils of Sassoon) group.
The press service of the Human Rights Defender's Office has told ArmInfo that they paid the visit following the complaints about deterioration of Harutyunyan's health.
"On November 4 evening, lawmaker Nikol Pashinyan told Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan that the health of Hovhannes Harutyunyan, who received a gunshot wound in the territory of the Yerevan police compound seized on July 17, has deteriorated. On November 5 morning, the specialists of the Ombudsman's Office visited the hospital and had a face-to-face meeting with Harutyunyan. They thoroughly studied his chart. The reports that Harutyunyan suffers stiffness and loss of sensitivity in the injured leg have not been confirmed," the Ombudsman's Office reports.
To recall, on July 17 Sasna Tsrer seized a police compound in Erebuni and demanded releasing Zhirayr Sefilyan, member of the initiative group of the New Armenia opposition movement. The group laid down the arms and surrendered on July 31. Harutyunyan faces charges based on Article 219 Part 3 Item 1 (Occupation of buildings, facilities, means of transportation or communication) and Article 235 (Illegal procurement, transportation or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices) of the Armenian Criminal Code. Arrest has been chosen as a measure of restraint against him.
