ArmInfo. In Armenia, army conscripts with higher education may enter a one-year course to become contract officers as an alternative to the 2-year army service. Head of the Human Resources Training Department of the Armenian Defense Ministry Colonel Suren Davtyan told reporters today, on August 26, such practice has become possible after the Defense Ministry system of military education was reformed and shifted to the Bologna system.
He explained that after the reform, the military educational establishments institutes were renamed into universities, which helped ensuring uninterrupted education and training of officers in the necessary dimensions. "Although we still to send our officers abroad for qualification upgrade courses, in some dimensions we can already train our officers in the country," Davtyan said.
He said that last year a pilot program of involving females into the armed forces of Armenia was launched and 11 females now receive higher education at the Military Academy after Vazgen Sargsyan.
