ArmInfo. Armenia's President Serzh Sargsyan sent a letter of condolence to his Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella related to the numerous victims as a result of earthquake in the central part of the country.
The press-service of the Armenian President has told ArmInfo that Sargsyan expressed assurance that Italian authorities will manage to overcome consequences of disaster in the nearest future. "In this hard moment of grief and losses I express my deepest condolences to You, friendly people of Italy and wish patience to the relatives of the victims and speedy recovery to the injured", the head of the state noted.
A strong magnitude 6.2 earthquake hit Italy's center at 3.36am local time today. The epicenter of the quake was near the town of Accumoli in the north-east of the Lazio region, 10km south-east of Norcia, a town in the province of Perugia. At least 38 people feared dead,150 people go missing. Foreign Ministry of Armenia is currently verifying if there were citizens of Armenia among those feared killed or injured in the earthquake that hit Italy's center overnight, Ministry Spokesperson Tigran Balayan told ArmInfo.
