ArmInfo. The overwhelming majority of respondents in Armenia consider the celebrations dedicated to May 9, the victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII), to be important, according to the results of the survey conducted by the MPG consulting company.
So, to clarify whether they consider the day of the victory of the USSR over Nazi Germany, which is celebrated in the post-Soviet space on May 9, to be an important day, 71% of respondents gave a clearly positive answer, 15.1% - rather yes, 4.4% - rather no, 8.8% - definitely no, yet 0.7% - found it difficult to answer.
When asked to clarify when the Second World War ended, only 14.5% of respondents answered correctly, naming September 2, 1945. Notably, in 2014 7% of respondents gave the correct answer. The overwhelming majority of respondents named May 9, 1945 - the date of the end of the Second World War. This answer was given by 67.5% of respondents (84% thought so in 2014); another 9.9% found it difficult to answer.
When asked to express their attitude towards the collapse of the USSR, 25.7% of respondents considered it a positive step, which allowed Armenia to take the path of development, another 8.3% - rather positive, since it allowed Armenia to get out of stagnation, 27.9% stated that they have a neutral attitude towards it, because this is already history. 10.1% - rather negative, another 24.9% - considered it a tragedy, another 3.1% - found it difficult to answer.
At the same time, 25.5% of respondents considered the common Soviet past of Armenia and Russia as a positive factor, 29.9% - rather a positive factor, 15.5% - rather a negative factor, 21.4% - definitely negative, 7.7% - found it difficult to answer.
Reminding that until 2021, May 9 was celebrated as a triple holiday in Armenia and Artsakh, and when asked to indicate which holidays they are - 70.2% of respondents named the liberation of Shushi, 70.1% - the Second World War, 23.9% - the formation of the Artsakh Defense Army, 0.8% - gave a different answer , another 12.3% found it difficult to answer.
The survey was conducted through telephone calls to residents of the Republic of Armenia in the period from April 22 to April 25 of this year, the sample size was 1100, the sampling error was +/- 3%.
