ArmInfo. On April 23, the traditional torchlight procession started from Republic Square in Yerevan in memory of the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire in 1915.
According to tradition, the procession began at 19:15, which symbolizes the year of massacres of Armenians in Ottoman Turkey.
The organizers are the Armenian Youth Union of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun and the ARF Student Union "Nikol Aggbalyan".
Participants in the procession from Republic Square are directed along the following route: st. Amiryan - Mashtots Ave. - Baghramyan Ave. - st. Kievyan - Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex.
In order to ensure the safety of participants in the torchlight procession, traffic on a number of streets in the capital will be limited today from 19:00.
