ArmInfo. Armenia's Premier Nikol Pashinyan believes that the authorities need to clarify the cases in which the state will have the right to take a child from the family and take care of his upbringing. He stated this on April 4 at a discussion of a draft decision to determine the procedure for referring a child who has been subjected to violence to the relevant authorities in order to provide protection or support, the forms of support provided to a child subjected to violence, and the procedure for providing it.
According to Pashinyan, despite the fact that the authorities' policy is aimed at ensuring that the child grows up in a family, we must remember that the child is not the property of anyone. "There are situations that require government intervention, when the state should have the right to take a child from the family and take care of his upbringing, etc.," he said.
In this context, the Prime Minister calls for clarification of the government's position, standards and "red lines", upon crossing which the authorities will be able to intervene and, in order to ensure the best interests of the child, protect him from the family in which he lives.
