ArmInfo. No one in Armenia has the right to surrender territory to anyone, Armenian NA Speaker Alen Simonyan stated in an interview with the Public Television of Armenia.
According to him, this is prohibited by law. In addition, as the speaker emphasized, the Armenian authorities do not even intend to discuss the issue of transferring part of the territory of the Armenian state to the other side. He cited the Zangezur Corridor as an example. "We clearly stated that if they try to oblige us to do something, we will fight against it to the end. The conversations that are going on today are simply speculation," said the head of the Armenian parliament.
The speaker noted that "Azerbaijan says that there is a problem, Armenia in response offers to solve it." "We need delimitation - let's carry out delimitation. Everything we say has legitimate grounds," he added. He called the statements that official Yerevan, as part of the border demarcation in Tavush, is handing over the border village of Voskepar to Azerbaijan as ignorant. "Which Voskepar are we talking about? Such statements are either the result of illiteracy, or are made for the purpose of provocation in order to start some kind of internal political processes in Armenia. Remember, at one time they said that the authorities were surrendering Vayk," Simonyan said, showing a map on the monitor , where it is planned to carry out delimitation and demarcation of the border in the northern section of the Tavvush region - from Baiganis- Ayrum to Kyzylgadzhili. "Everything that belongs to Armenia will remain with it, everything that does not will not," said the head of the Armenian parliament, proposing in this regard to use not the word "surrender" and "give", but to talk about the demarcation process.
The politician assured that Armenia is moving towards demarcation not because of Azerbaijan's threats, but because it is needed. He answered affirmatively to the presenter's question whether Azerbaijan recognizes the state border of Armenia after delimitation. At the same time, Simonyan assured that in the context of delimitation, Armenia is doing everything to make war impossible. Simonyan noted that the work process on border delimitation can be assessed positively, since there is mutual understanding. "I cannot say that this process is at a dead end," Simonyan stated.
