ArmInfo.Preparations for the next Russian-Azerbaijani contacts regarding the activities of the Russian peacekeeping contingent (RPC) in Nagorno-Karabakh continue. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, stated on February 14 during a weekly briefing.
"Our dialogue in this dirction is regular and built in a constructive manner. Among the discussed issues are the following: the prospects for the return of the Armenian population to Karabakh with proper provision of their rights and security, the organization of joint patrols and the protection of monuments of cultural, historical and religious heritage," she noted.
It should be noted that on February 12, Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Evdokimov said that the dates for the next round of negotiations between Moscow and Baku on the peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh are now being agreed upon with the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. The diplomat recalled that its term of stay in occupied Artsakh expires in 2025.
After this statement by the Russian diplomat, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry stated that RPC will have to leave Artsakh after 2025.
