ArmInfo.Member of the opposition "I have the honor" parliamentary faction Tigran Abrahamyan believes that from the statements of the Russian president it can be concluded that that Moscow has no other agreements with Baku, except those recorded in the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020. He stated this on May 26 in the National Assembly, commenting on the Aliyev's remarks, which were voiced yesterday that Russia allegedly supports the idea of creating a so-called <Zangezur corridor>.
After the RA Prime Minister's observation of the inadmissibility of the use of the term "Zangezur Corridor" and the inadmissibility of territorial claims against Armenia, Aliyev at first hastened to deny these accusations, citing the international "meaning" of the "corridor" word. And then he said that "Azerbaijan is the one who initiated its establishment". "It is our right to initiate whatever we consider correct, legitimate, reasonable, and what is supported, including by the Russian Federation and other parties involved in the process," he said. The Prime Minister of Armenia said in response that It is very interesting to know that Russia supports the project you mentioned. To be honest, this is the first time I have heard about it.
Abrahamyan recalled that later the head of the Russian Federation stated that Moscow's position on the Artsakh issue had not changed. <And the position of the Russian Federation is reflected in the tripartite statement, since Russia is a party to the document. This suggests that Russia does not have any other agreements with Azerbaijan, in addition to those provided for by the statement of November 9, 2020>, the MP said.
Answering a question about the illegal installation of a checkpoint by Azerbaijan on a bridge on the Khakari River in the Lachin corridor, in violation of the tripartite statement, which could become a dangerous precedent for further "deviations" from the agreements recorded in the document "with the tacit consent of the Russian Federation", the MP from "I have the honor" stated that Moscow was obliged to prevent the installation of the checkpoint. <Especially when you consider that the checkpoint was installed 20-30 meters from the location of the RPC. Russia, not only as a participant in the tripartite statement, but also a major player in the region, is responsible for this part>, he said, adding that the actions of the Russian Federation in the Lachin corridor should be more targeted.
According to Abrahamyan, today Baku recognizes the fact of the installation of the checkpoint, and in the future will use this as an instrument of pressure on the RA in the negotiation process.
