ArmInfo. There were no discussions between representatives of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan on the establishment of a border checkpoint on the territory of the Lachin corridor. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this on March 30 at a weekly briefing.
Earlier, on February 28, at a joint press conference with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, referring to the proposal of the Azerbaijani side to establish a checkpoint in the Lachin corridor, said that the Trilateral Statement of November 9, 2020 does not provide for the establishment of a checkpoint in Lachin corridor. "It does not provide for the establishment of any checkpoints, but it is possible to remove suspicions that the corridor is actually used for its intended purpose by technical means," Lavrov said, adding that he touched on this issue during negotiations with his Azerbaijani counterpart. However, he stressed that technical issues are of secondary importance.
