ArmInfo. U.S. Congressman has posted the following message on his Facebook page:
"I'm pleased that after a long delay, the United States has resumed humanitarian aid for landmine removal in Artsakh. The assistance that the United States provided for more than a decade to remove land mines doubtlessly saved countless civilians from being killed or maimed by these weapons. Ending this support in March 2020 was a mistake, and I'm glad we have prevailed on the State Department to reinstate it. After the devastating November 2020 war, it's all the more critical.
"For years, thousands of Armenian families have lived in fear of unexploded munitions near their homes, farms, schools, and other gathering places that bind their communities together. This decision helps save further lives."
In October 2021, the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations recommended up to $2,000,000 for humanitarian demining and UXO clearance activities in areas affected by the 2020 fighting in the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict.
