ArmInfo.Armenia welcomes the approaches of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship aimed at resuming the peace process, which are presented in their joint statement issued on July 29.
This is stated in an official statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia. The statement notes that the priority issues of the peace process, identified by the OSCE MG co-chairs and high representatives of the OSCE MG member states in previous joint statements of December 3, 2020 and April 13, 2021, can create the basis for negotiations.
The statement of the co-chairs once again proves, according to the RA Foreign Ministry, that the key to regional peace and security is a comprehensive settlement of the Karabakh conflict. It is noted that the penetration of units of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan into the sovereign territory of Armenia since May 12, as well as attacks on the defensive positions of the Republic of Armenia in recent days have aggravated the situation.
Armenia has always advocated de-escalation of the situation, and in this regard put forward concrete proposals, in particular, on the withdrawal of military units to the existing initial positions as of May 11. The statement expresses confidence that a targeted assessment of Azerbaijan's actions will help overcome the explosive situation.
