ArmInfo. In continuation of the telephone conversation of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev with UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay, a number of meetings via videoconferences have been held between Azerbaijan and UNESCO in recent months. Head of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Leyla Abdullayeva announced.
"During the last meeting held on June 21, 2021, the Azerbaijani side once again emphasized its readiness to accept the UNESCO mission and called on the organization to speed up this process. In particular, discussions were held on the visit of the UNESCO mission to Aghdam and Fizuli regions and the city of Shushi," she said, APA reports.
In addition, Abdullayeva said that as a result of discussions between the Azerbaijani side and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, an agreement was reached on the implementation of the mission of the Commissioner for Refugees in the territories affected by the conflict. "Azerbaijan is fully ready to accept the mission of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. Currently, we expect a response from both organizations to complete the work related to the visit," Abdullayeva said.
To note, according to the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020, the UNESCO mission was supposed to visit the conflict region in December last year. However, Azerbaijan in every possible way delays this process, in parallel either destroying the Armenian cultural-religious-historical heritage or falsifying it.
