ArmInfo.Armenia cannot but feel alarmed at the appearance of Turkey on the borders of Karabakh, which should not be among the forces deciding the issue of the final status of Nagorno-Karabakh. Vice-Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia Armen Ashotyan wrote on his Facebook page.
"I understand the position of Russia and closely follow the Russian-Turkish relations along the entire front; from Crimea to Syria, from Central Asia to Libya. Russia needs Turkey to fight against the West, and Erdogan skillfully uses this. Russia and Turkey have established relations that can be considered "intimate conflict".
However, let's not forget what kind of a country Turkey is and who Erdogan is. I have no doubt that Turkey will turn away from Moscow at a crucial moment, and this poses threats to not only Russia, but also Armenia.
The recent war in Artsakh, in which Turkey's involvement was impetuous and obscene, stressed once again the physical security of Armenians in the region.
Many have noticed that Turkey hasn't changed since the Armenian Genocide and hasn't become a bit civilized and peaceful. I would like to emphasize once again that it is impermissible to indulge Turkey in trading its loyalty at the expense of Armenia's interests because, at the end, there will be neither loyalty nor Armenia," Ashotyan said.
To recall, on June 15, the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey, Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, accompanied by a huge retinue, visited the occupied Armenian city of Shushi. The ceremony of signing the Shusha Declaration on Alliance between Azerbaijan and Turkey took place there. A special place in the document is also occupied by the encouragement of coordinated and joint activities in the political, military and security sectors from the point of view of common national interests. In the event of a threat or aggression from a third state or states against the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, inviolability or security of the internationally recognized borders of any of the parties, it is envisaged to conduct joint consultations, implement an initiative consistent with the goals and principles of the UN Charter, and provide each other with the necessary assistance in accordance with the UN Charter, the organization of coordinated activities of the power and management structures of the Armed Forces. The Shusha Declaration emphasizes joint efforts to modernize the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in accordance with modern requirements, the implementation of measures aimed at strengthening the defense capability and military security, increasing the combat capability of the Armed Forces of both countries, close cooperation in the management of weapons and ammunition based on modern technologies and ensuring for these purposes, the coordinated activities of authorized structures and institutions. Erdogan announced his intention to open the Turkish Consulate in Shushi in the near future.
