ArmInfo.A series of blunders of the current government brought the country to defeat, Colonel-General and former CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov said at a rally in Goris, Syunik region on June 8.
"They say that this war could not be won, that it was probably lost in advance. This is not true, comrades. A series of blunders brought the country to defeat, the main mistake is that the Defense Army was not brought to full combat readiness," he declared.
So, according to Khachaturov, if the army was brought to full combat readiness: it took the lines and positions, if all the troops were dispersed, the beginning would be completely different. "And the counterstrike, which was carried out in the direction of Lyalatepe, was a useless, unprepared counterattack.
So many gross mistakes were brought to defeat. Even an army weakened in 3 years could win or, in the worst case, stop the enemy on the distant borders of the Armenian border, at last, not here: not near Sevlich, not near Kapan, "the colonel-general said.
In his words, they want to scare the Armenian people by the fact that a new government will come and a war will immediately start. Meanwhile, the new leaders do not want war more than anyone else. "They know what war is. They have lost friends, they will do everything so that there is no war," he said. At the same time, according to Khachaturov, the authorities brought the country to war. Meanwhile, there shouldn't have been a war at all. "The power will change, Armenia has a future. It's just that after the change of power, we have to be patient and work hard," he said.
