ArmInfo. The situation on the borders of Armenia continues to be tense in connection with the invasion of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan. Arsen Torosyan, Head of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, stated this in an interview with journalists on July 4.
Clarifying to the journalists about what positive achievements can be said when the enemy is still on the territory of the Republic of Armenia, Torosyan, in particular, said: "It takes time to assess the achievements. There are achievements in the sense that at the highest level with our only partner in the zone security, there is mutual understanding on ways to resolve the current situation. The Russian Federation is making every effort to make this happen without firing a single shot, since a large-scale war, the risk of which is still high, is not needed by anyone in the region, especially Armenia, "Torosyan said.
Answering the question about the signing of a new document with Azerbaijan, mentioned by Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Torosyan assured that if any document is signed, it will reflect the results of the agreements reached between the parties. "At the moment, there are no final agreements, and therefore, there can be no talk of any signing. And I don't see any reason to talk about it now," the official said, recalling once again that delimitation and demarcation of borders is a complex process that requires many years of painstaking work.
At the same time, he assured that the process of clarifying the borders is in no way connected with the requirement to withdraw the Azerbaijani Armed Forces to their initial positions from the territory of Armenia. Torosyan also stated that the countries to which Pashinyan's message was sent on the issue of the deployment of international observers, reacted. In this vein, the official recalled that Russia had fulfilled its functions before this proposal and continues to do so. "The Russian Federation, being our main partner, continues to intensively fulfill its mission," Torosyan stated, recalling the numerous statements of the RA power structures on cooperation.
At the same time, the head of the RA Prime Minister's Office refused to disclose the details of the results of Pashinyan's visit to Paris and Brussels, only assuring that they will be disclosed when it is needed based on the state interests of Armenia.
To the comment of the journalist to what extent the steps to create a joint commission to clarify the borders proceed from the interests of Armenia, after all, it was Azerbaijan that invaded the sovereign territory of Armenia, and tomorrow it may reach Yerevan with such success, Torosyan urged not to exaggerate the situation. In his words, the talk was about measures to de-escalate the situation, which would lead to the withdrawal of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and ensure the presence of one of the partners of Armenia in these areas. "At the moment, intensive negotiations are underway with the mediation of Russia, which I have already said," Torosyan stressed.
In conclusion, he also touched on the issue of providing a corridor through Armenia, the so-called Zangezur region through the Syunik region and assured that this issue was never on the agenda of negotiations and it will not be, and it is not included in any document.
