ArmInfo. During his visit to Syunik, Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin visited the Meghri border detachment of the Border Department of the FSS of Russia in Armenia.
The Russian diplomat visited the most remote post guarded by Russian border guards in the south of Armenia, where three borders - Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran meet.
Kopyrkin also honored the memory of the heroes of the border guards who died in different years in Armenia.
Then the Russian Ambassador visited Agarak, where he got acquainted with the activities of the Agarak Copper-Molybdenum Combine. The general director of the plant Aleksey Sinyakov informed the ambassador about the state of affairs at the enterprise and the prospects for development in the coming years.
During the visit, the Ambassador also met with the governor of the region, Melikset Poghosyan, who acquainted Kopyrkin with the specifics of the economic development of the region and the upcoming cultural events planned for the summer season.
The interlocutors discussed issues related to the return of the population to peaceful life and the organization of economic activities near the borders. At the end of the meeting, Poghosyan thanked the Russian side for its efforts to resolve the 44-day armed conflict with Azerbaijan and ensure security on the border.
