ArmInfo. Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, who is on a working visit to France, met with President of the French Senate Gerard Larcher. According to the press service of the government, the head of the Senate welcomed the visit of the Armenian government delegation and congratulated Pashinyan on his birthday.
The meeting with the head of the Senate provides an opportunity to once again discuss issues on the bilateral agenda and steps to counter the processes unfolding around Armenia. Gerard Larcher noted that the Senate is taking steps in this direction and has intensified the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group on a comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
"We raised the issue of Armenian prisoners of war in Azerbaijan before the President of the European Parliament, as a result of which the European Parliament adopted a resolution, which is a positive step. We are not satisfied with this, our steps will continue," said Mr. Larcher, stressing that the recent offensive of Azerbaijan raises concerns about the territorial integrity of Armenia.
Nikol Pashinyan once again thanked the authors of the resolution on the need to recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh and everyone who supported the adoption of the document. <In a difficult situation, this was important. The people of Karabakh saw that they are not alone in a difficult struggle. "We hope that France will continue to play an important role in the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship process and that the Minsk Group will be more active in resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," Nikol Pashinyan said, adding that he discussed this issue with President Macron.
The acting Prime Minister introduced to the interlocutor the steps taken to resolve the situation on the Armenian- Azerbaijani border, and touched upon the development of events in the South Caucasus region.
