ArmInfo. More than 65 members of the U.S. House of Representatives are calling on the House Appropriations Committee to allocate $ 100 million to help Armenia and Artsakh.
According to the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) and the Armenian Assembly of America, a letter initiated by the co-chairs of the Armenian Congressional Caucus (Frank Pallone, Jr., Jackie Speier, and Adam Schiff) to the Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs on Housing Appropriations specifically calls for:
- Provide reliable funding for direct assistance to the Armenian people of Nagorno-Karabakh in their reconstruction. Such assistance will be used for the implementation of urgently needed housing projects, food security, water and sanitation, medical and refugee assistance, rehabilitation programs and infrastructure needs; - In addition, to allocate $ 2 million for programs for the destruction of conventional weapons in Nagorno-Karabakh;
- Direct $ 100 million to assist Armenia in areas such as the economy, governance, rule of law, and security through the State Department and USAID accounts; - Suspend all U.S. security assistance to Azerbaijan until the cessation of all attacks on Armenia and Artsakh is confirmed.
