ArmInfo. The expected deterioration of relations between the United States and Russia with the arrival of Joe Biden in the Oval Office of the White House will undoubtedly have a negative impact on Armenia. Executive Director of the International Center for Human Development Tevan Poghosyan expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.
"The expected new sanctions, the strengthening of the clash of interests between our strategic ally and a friendly country cannot bypass Armenia. However, it is difficult to speak of the United States as a friendly country in the conditions of its line of conduct over the past three months," he stressed.
At the same time, the expert emphasized the unattractive prospect of this clash in the South Caucasus by the hands of states hostile to Armenia. Realizing all these realities, Poghosyan does not expect anything good for Armenia from the upcoming impulses in Washington-Moscow relations in the light of such prospects. According to him, this forecast concerns both the internal and external agenda of Armenia, as well as the general geopolitical situation in the region.
According to him, the same "former authorities" worked badly with the previous democratic administration or rather did not even try to work somehow. Poghosyan does not think that today the situation in this regard has somehow changed, and the current government will be able to correct the foreign policy mistakes of its predecessors.
"The problem is that the Armenian authorities do not want to realize that the country's foreign policy is a continuation of the domestic policy. And if there is nothing good in our domestic political life, then a priori that good can not be in foreign policy. The situation is the same everywhere: economy, education, culture: And the policy that led us to defeat in Karabakh continues today. Therefore, I do not expect anything good, at least, until there are serious changes within the country," Poghosyan summed up.
