ArmInfo. The countries of the region should take seriously the fact of the transfer by Turkey of mercenaries from Syria to the region of the Karabakh conflict. Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this in an interview with "Iran" newspaper, the text of which was published by the Armenian Embassy in Tehran.
According to the head of the Armenian government, it has been confirmed at the international level that mercenaries from Syria are being transferred to the region through Turkey to participate in hostilities, which pose a serious threat to the entire region. "Unfortunately, the countries of the region did not seriously react to this reality. There is no doubt that the presence of foreign terrorists will pose a serious threat to regional developments in the future," Nikol Pashinyan said.
He recalled that the OSCE Minsk Group is the only internationally recognized body for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. But Iran, as one of the important states in the region, playing a key role here, can play its role in ending hostilities. "We welcome any constructive steps by Iran to establish peace and tranquility in the region," the head of government said.
At the same time, he stressed that Azerbaijan widely uses Israeli drones, and this fact proves that foreign powers are interfering in the affairs of the region in various ways. With the exception of the countries - members of the Minsk Group (Russia, France and the United States), foreign intervention in the conflict should not occur. Nikol Pashinyan recalled that a month and a half before the start of the conflict, Azerbaijan held joint military exercises with Turkey, and after they ended, part of the Turkish troops remained in this country. In addition, Turkey recruited Syrian terrorists and transferred them to Azerbaijan with the aim of including them in the upcoming Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. "If the military conflict had not been planned, there would have been no reason for their transfer to the Republic of Azerbaijan. Today, the presence of these terrorists has been proven, many documents have been published and their authenticity has been proved. All these documents indicate that the war was planned in advance, and in accordance with this situation, we are faced with a large-scale war that threatens the entire region," the RA Prime Minister said.
At the same time, he continued, Turkey is constantly trying to prevent a ceasefire, because Turkey's goals are much more global. "Turkey's problem is not only in Nagorno-Karabakh, but also in its presence in the South Caucasus region, and I must emphasize that this is a policy of reviving the empire. Turkey seeks to expand its influence to the east, north, and southeast, which has a direct impact to all countries. And the states need to take this fact into account and express their position on this policy, "Nikol Pashinyan noted.
He expressed regret that the missiles hit Iranian territory. "If this happened and was confirmed by the Armenian side, I am very sorry. Of course, I do not have accurate information about this, but I can assure you that the Armenian side will make every effort not to harm its friendly neighbor Iran. The Armenian side will do everything possible to prevent a repetition of such incidents, and I assure you that Armenia will be more vigilant in this matter," the head of the Armenian government stated.
