ArmInfo. The European Court of Human Rights has received an inquiry from Armenia demanding to take interim measures against Turkey in connection with the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, RIA Novosti was told in the press service on October 5.
"The court received a request from Armenia on the basis of rule 39 against Turkey," the court said. The interlocutor of the agency did not explain exactly when this request will be considered. According to the practice of the court, the request can be considered within a few days.
Earlier, the representation of Armenia to the ECHR reported that Yerevan appealed to the European Court of Human Rights with a request to take action against Turkey, pointing out the assistance provided by this country to Azerbaijan during the escalation in Nagorno-Karabakh. The report says that when sending the request, a gross violation of international humanitarian law and the European Convention on Human Rights was taken into account.
This is Armenia's second request in a week for the application of Article 39. Earlier, Yerevan submitted a request to the ECHR for the application of interim measures against Azerbaijan. The adopted decision of the court notes that the current situation in Karabakh may lead to the risk of violations of the Human Rights Convention. In order to prevent such violations and in accordance with rule 39 of the rules of the court, the ECHR asked Azerbaijan and Armenia to refrain from taking any measures, in particular military actions, which could lead to violations of the rights of the civilian population guaranteed by the Convention, including the threat of their life and health.
