ArmInfo.. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova urged to be guided by the official position of Russia on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
So, on September 23, during a weekly briefing, answering a question about the agenda of negotiations of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a meeting with a parliamentary delegation from Azerbaijan, as well as assessments of various interpretations of his words in the Azerbaijani media regarding the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Zakharova noted that she would not like to comment on the correctness of these messages, urging to contact the sources where they came from.
"As for the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, I would like to note that today, during the meeting with the Azerbaijani side, the previously voiced basic principles for the settlement of the Karabakh conflict were discussed, implying, among other things, the status of Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the liberated territories around it. You are well aware of our position on this issue and a big request to be guided by it, and not by various interpretations that are not being made by the Russian side," Zakharova summed up.
Earlier, the Azerbaijani media disseminated information that allegedly the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry at a meeting with the speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament said that "Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statements about Nagorno-Karabakh hinder the process of settling the conflict, and that Russia is in favor of the returning 5 <occupied regions> around Karabakh, bringing peacekeepers into the region and restoring transport communications."
