ArmInfo.. The epidemic situation is decisive in the issue of opening the borders between Armenia and Russia. Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergei Kopyrkin stated on September 18 in an interview with journalists on the sidelines of the opening of the "Russian Center" in the branch of the Central Library named after Avetik Isahakyan.
"Of course, we will follow how the epidemiological situation is developing in Russia and in Armenia, as this is decisive for resolving the issue of the full opening of the border," the Russian diplomat said, adding that these issues are being discussed at the bilateral level and within the EAEU.
At the same time, he found it difficult to provide more detailed information on this issue, stating that it is being considered at the level of the competent authorities.
"But, as you know, there are flights now. There are certain requirements that are imposed on the citizens of Armenia for entry. Nevertheless, the relevant government decrees, which introduced regime requirements, sufficiently take into account those humanitarian and other situations that may require the arrival of Armenian citizens in the Russian Federation. And I must say that for one reason or another, quite a lot of citizens were able to enter the Russian Federation, "the Russian diplomat concluded.
To recall, the air and land communications were suspended between Armenia and Russia in mid-March of this year due to the deteriorating situation with the novel coronavirus pandemic around the world, and in the two countries in particular.
