ArmInfo.Britain, France and Germany have stated they cannot support the US moves to re-establish UN sanctions against Iran, arguing that these actions are incompatible with efforts to maintain the Iranian nuclear deal. This is reported by "Evropeyskaya Pravda" with reference to the statement of the three countries.
As noted, on August 20, the United States sent a letter to the UN Security Council with a request to initiate a reverse mechanism that allows a participant in the nuclear deal to seek the re-imposition of multilateral sanctions against Iran, lifted in 2015 in accordance with Resolution 2231 adopted by the UN Security Council.
"France, Germany and the United Kingdom note that the United States ceased to be a party to the agreement after their withdrawal from it on May 8, 2018. Therefore, our position on the effectiveness of the message of the United States in accordance with Resolution 2231 was very clearly expressed to the head and all members of the UN Security Council. Therefore, we can support this action, which is incompatible with our current efforts to maintain the nuclear agreement, "the statement said. "To preserve the agreement, we urge Iran to cancel all measures incompatible with its nuclear obligations and immediately return to full compliance with the agreement," the three countries said in a joint statement.
