By order of the head of the department Suren Papikyan, he was appointed Acting General Director of SNCO. According to the press service of the Ministry, congratulating the newly appointed director, Christine Galechyan emphasized that Stepan Machyan has extensive experience in the field of management, and expressed confidence that this experience will be effectively implemented during his tenure as General Director of SNCO. The Deputy Minister noted that the volume of programs implemented in the field of road construction is increasing from year to year, and Stepan Machyan will be able to develop the positive results that are in this system. Stepan Machyan, thanking for the congratulations, for the confidence placed in him, stressed the role and importance of the department in road construction. "Development of the sector should be our priority. Working in the public sector, we should pay attention to the issue of building and strengthening systemic institutional structures, as they will ensure further progress, regardless of who is currently in charge of this system. And the road department has every opportunity to act as an institutional structure, "Stepan Machyan said.
SNCO employees presented their activities, programs and tasks in detail to the newly appointed head. In his future work, Stepan Machyan intends to use a team approach, and in difficult times - concentration of forces and their joint overcoming.
Note that the department carries out work in the field of road construction, carries out tenders, attracting contractors and tracking the quality of work. Earlier, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan noted that within the framework of the program of capital repairs and road construction for the current year, the amount of 31 billion drams was approved. In 2020, despite the coronavirus epidemic, it is planned to repair and build 500 km of interstate and republican roads. On May 14 the government made a decision to allocate 17.4 billion drams for the repair of 185.33 km of roads and two transport facilities. At the same time, the work will affect 97.26 km of interstate roads, 55.57 km of republican, 32.5 km of regional importance. The tenders for the construction of a number of roads have already been completed, in particular, for the repair of 241 km, medium repair of 80 km. Also, work is underway to build the M6 highway (in the direction of Georgia). It is planned to complete by the end of the year tenders for the construction of about 50 km of roads.
