On August 7, during the discussions on how to support the Armenian community of Lebanon, said the executive director of the Fund Haykak Arshamyan.
According to him, the Fund has opened a special account in the Central Bank, where donors' funds are accumulated. As of today, 200 individuals and legal entities have responded to the call for assistance to Lebanon.
In turn, High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan noted that the next flight the Armenian delegation will leave for Beirut to study the situation on the spot. "We do not want the impression that we are going to help only the Armenian community in Lebanon, I believe that both the Lebanese government and the Lebanese will be able to misunderstand such a message. We are going to help Lebanon on behalf of the entire Armenian people," Zareh Sinanyan noted. He added that the Armenian delegation intends to get acquainted with the scale of destruction and the possibilities of reconstruction of some of them on the spot.
Earlier today, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on his Facebook page that the first aircraft with humanitarian aid for Lebanon will fly to Beirut on the evening of August 8.
At the same time, he noted that this board will send 12 tons of humanitarian aid to friendly Lebanon. "Two more flights with humanitarian aid will take place next week. An Armenian delegation, consisting of representatives of the RA government, the National Assembly and the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, will also leave for Beirut," Pashinyan said.
Yesterday, Pashinyan said at a meeting of the executive body that Armenia had already declared its readiness to provide the necessary assistance to overcome the consequences of the tragedy in Lebanon and would provide assistance to the Lebanese government and the Armenian community.
In his words, the RA government, through the country's Foreign Ministry and the office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, is in constant contact with the Lebanese government and the local Armenian community. At present, Nikol Pashinyan continued, the amount of this aid is being determined, which will become targeted.
At the same time, the Prime Minister noted, all those benefactors who wish to take part in the restoration of Beirut can transfer funds to a special account in the RA Central Bank, opened by the Hayastan All Armenian Fund. "Armenia supports our brothers and sisters in Beirut, and will make every effort to provide assistance and get Lebanon out of this difficult situation," the head of the Armenian government stressed.
