ArmInfo. The relatives of the victims on March 1, 2008 for the second time circulated a statement in which they opposed the candidacy of Vahram Avetisyan as a member of the Constitutional Court.
The statement, in particular, notes: "It makes no sense to react to publications of various media, fakes, and famous citizens, to give them any arguments, because the narrow personal, partial, group interests of the people who created these publications are obvious. the professional characteristics of the moral character of these persons are known. Only we, the relatives of the victims on March 1, 2008, opposed this candidacy, we believe that such a shallow person, guided by personal interests, has no right to hold the post of a member of the Constitutional Court, "the statement says.Note that this is the second such letter. In the first open letter, the relatives of the victims on March 1, 2008 urged the deputies to vote against the candidacy of Vahram Avetisyan as a judge of the Constitutional Court.
The head of the "My Step" faction Lilit Makunts, answering the question of how she assesses this letter, said that she did not want to comment on this issue. The MP recalled that Avetisyan had no direct relation to any court verdict and did not make any statements on this matter. It should be reminded that dissatisfaction with Vahram Avetisyan's candidacy is mainly due to his family ties. The fact is that Avetisyan's father served as head of the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation in 2008-2016.Note that on July 23, the government nominated Vahram Avetisyan as a candidate for the Constitutional Court judge. Earlier, Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Ararat Mirzoyan signed a law on amendments to the law "On the Constitutional Court", which was adopted on June 30. In accordance with them, the powers of all judges of the Constitutional Court are limited to 12 years. After the amendments were adopted, three judges who had worked for over 12 years were dismissed from their posts: Alvina Gyulumyan, Hrant Nazaryan and Felix Tokhyan. The chairman of the court, Hrayr Tovmasyan, has become an ordinary judge. New judges will now be elected instead. One candidate is proposed by the government, the second - by the president, the third - by the General Assembly of Judges.
